Where the company data comes from

Belgian company facts come from the CBE Open Data published by the FPS Economy (Federal Public Service Economy). It is the open extract of the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises, known in Dutch as the KBO and in French as the BCE.

The licence requires that every reuse names the source and the extract date. Our attribution line reads:

French company facts come from the Sirene register published by INSEE (Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques), the national statistics institute. Sirene is distributed under the Licence Ouverte 2.0 (Etalab), which permits reuse, including commercial reuse, provided the source and the extract date are cited.

Norwegian company facts come from Enhetsregisteret (the Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities), published by Brønnøysundregistrene, the Brønnøysund Register Centre. The register is served as open data from data.brreg.no under the Norsk lisens for åpne data (NLOD 2.0), which permits reuse, including commercial reuse, provided the source is named. No registration is needed to use the dataset.

Swedish company facts come from two bulk files, because neither one is a complete register on its own. Bolagsverket, the Swedish Companies Registration Office, publishes the legal register: registered names, legal form, registration date, and any ongoing liquidation or bankruptcy. SCB (Statistics Sweden) publishes the business-register extract: the SNI industry code, the legal-form code, and the flag that says whether a company is economically active. We take the active Swedish companies from SCB and enrich them from Bolagsverket.

Both files are published as EU high-value datasets (värdefulla datamängder), free to download and free to reuse, including commercial reuse. No key, no registration and no agreement is needed. They are refreshed weekly.

The licence asks that every reuse names the source. Our attribution line reads:

One scope note: a Swedish sole trader (enskild näringsidkare) is a natural person, and the name either register holds for one can be that person’s own name. We never publish it. A sole trader is named only by a business name (företagsnamn) registered with Bolagsverket or recorded by SCB, and otherwise stays unnamed.

Finnish company facts come from one bulk file: the whole company register of the Business Information System (yritys- ja yhteisötietojärjestelmä, YTJ), the joint register the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (Patentti- ja rekisterihallitus, PRH) runs with the Tax Administration. It carries the registered company name, the company form, the TOL 2008 industry code, the registration date and any ongoing bankruptcy, re‑organisation or liquidation.

The download is open data: no key, no registration and no agreement. PRH regenerates it daily; we refresh weekly. Facts are published for the companies whose Business ID is valid — a Business ID that has been invalidated, or a registration still pending, is left out.

CC BY 4.0 asks that every reuse names the source and the licence. Our attribution line reads:

One scope note: a Finnish private trader (yksityinen elinkeinonharjoittaja) is a natural person, and PRH excludes those personal details from the open data before it is published. So the file we read carries company names or no name at all — a personal name never reaches us, and a company the register holds no live name for stays unnamed.

PeppolStatus is an independent reuse of this open data. None of the FPS Economy, INSEE, Brønnøysundregistrene, Bolagsverket, SCB or PRH endorses PeppolStatus, e‑invoice.be, or the way we combine, match and present their data. Using their open data does not imply that these bodies approve of, or are associated with, this service.

This site is not the official register and is not a substitute for it. For authoritative company information, consult the registers directly. Figures here are derived. We match participants to register records and aggregate them, so they can differ from the official source, and we may have introduced errors the registers did not.

Registry-sourced names are shown only for legal persons. Where a company is registered to a natural person (for example a sole trader), we publish only non-identifying facts: sector, region, status and incorporation date. We never publish the person's name. The gate is applied in the data itself, not just in the page.

A participant's own name from the Peppol directory is a separate source and is shown as the directory publishes it.
