How many Peppol participants are there?

9,568,056 participant identifiers are indexed as of 20 Sept 2026, 17:39 UTC. They belong to 7,566,316 distinct organisations. The two numbers are not interchangeable: a company that registers a VAT-based identifier and a national-register one holds two identifiers and is one organisation, so any "number of Peppol companies" claim has to say which of the two it counts.

Every row is one call to the free, keyless API — no key, no account. GET /v1/stats/participants and GET /v1/network return exactly these figures.

Growth

How fast is the Peppol network growing?

The indexed directory grew by 3,105,220 identifiers over the 30 days to 2026-09-20, and by 199,111 over the last seven days. That is net growth of what we index. It rises both when companies register and when our own discovery passes resolve identifiers that were registered earlier, so it is an upper bound on new registrations, never a count of them.

France holds 5,825,792 identifiers, 60.9% of the network, and Tickstar is the largest single operator with 1,079,396 participants served. The full breakdowns are on Peppol adoption by country and Peppol provider market share.

Method

Where do these Peppol statistics come from?

From two sources, both public. The Peppol directory export gives the registered identifiers; the SML gives us every SMP to resolve, and resolving them gives the per-provider and per-country attribution. Hosts discovered that way are then probed from multiple regions, which is where the uptime figures come from. Nobody self-reports into any of it.

Because the index grows both by registration and by discovery, we never present net growth as "new companies". Where a page needs first-seen registrations specifically, they are separated out and labelled as such.
